About Me
From biology labs to backend systems - my journey in problem-solving and analytical thinking.
The Journey
My path to backend development began in an unexpected place - the world of biology. With a background in biological sciences, I developed a deep appreciation for systematic thinking, data analysis, and understanding complex interconnected systems.
The transition from studying biological systems to building digital ones felt natural. Both require careful observation, hypothesis testing, and the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components. The analytical mindset I developed in research has become invaluable in architecting scalable backend solutions.
Current Focus
Today, I work at TaskUs while continuously expanding my backend development skills. I'm passionate about building robust APIs, optimizing database performance, and creating systems that can scale efficiently. My approach combines the methodical thinking from my scientific background with modern development practices.
I believe in writing clean, maintainable code and documenting everything thoroughly. Whether it's implementing JWT authentication, designing RESTful APIs, or containerizing applications with Docker, I approach each challenge with curiosity and attention to detail.
Philosophy
"I don't know everything, but I'm obsessed with improving."
This mindset drives my continuous learning journey. From configuring Arch Linux to mastering Vim, from understanding database indexing to implementing microservice architectures - I embrace challenges that push me to grow as a developer.
I believe the best backend systems are those that work seamlessly behind the scenes, handling complexity gracefully while providing reliable, fast, and secure services to users and other systems.
Professional Timeline
Looking forward
Dedicated to Backend Development
My focus has now sharpened to backend development, driven by a passion to build robust, efficient, and user-centric systems. I'm actively deepening my expertise in backend technologies and building projects to translate user needs into seamless digital experiences.
2024
Pivoting to Programming & Tech Immersion
This year marked my definitive pivot from biology to programming. While at TaskUs, I gained invaluable exposure to the tech environment, specifically supporting AirSpace and later the FinTech company DailyPay. This experience reinforced my decision to pursue software development, fueled by a desire to address user challenges from a foundational level.
2021-2023
Cultivating Customer Empathy & Problem Solving
My journey in customer support began at Accedo, where I served as a representative for Cricket Wireless (2021-2023) and later as an advisor for Nintendo of America (2023-2024). These roles were instrumental in sharpening my communication skills and providing firsthand insight into customer pain points. I learned how large organizations balance user expectations with business goals, a perspective that now profoundly shapes my approach to software development. It instilled in me the importance of building solutions with empathy, clarity, and a focus on solving real-world problems.
2016 - 2021
Foundational Analytical Skills from Biology Background
My studies in Biology at Universidad Industrial de Santander laid a strong foundation in analytical thinking, research methodology, and systematic problem-solving. Though I decided not to continue in this field, these core skills are directly transferable and highly valuable in breaking down complex programming challenges and designing logical system architectures.
